NORTH OAK BAY

North Oak Bay borders the City of Victoria (separate municipality) along Foul Bay Road and the Henderson and Estevan neighbourhoods to the north. It borders the South Oak Bay community along Oak Bay Avenue. This street is host to the majority of shops, services restaurants and a great pub. Oak Bay Avenue between Yale Street and Monterey Avenue is the core of Oak Bay Village, where many of the municipality’s social events occur as well as acting as the commercial centre.

Within this compact neighbourhood there are many unique spots and amenities. At the west end of this community the streets are named for literary masters, so it has become known as “Poet’s Corner”. Beside this corner, Oak Bay has its own municipal waste and public works site for recyclables, garden waste, garbage and even good used “free stuff” table. Near this area are two of Oak Bay’s greatest assets: Oak Bay Recreation Centre and Oak Bay High School. The private Glenlyon Norfolk Junior School campus is an example preserved heritage alongside newly purpose-built structures, right on the waterfront. The Oak Bay Police and Fire Station, neighbourhood allotment gardens and the Bowker Creek pathway are all highlights of this community.
