The Henderson neighbourhood is the only neighbourhood not bordered by ocean. This region extends beside the Saanich panhandle and up to meet Saanich’s, Gordon Head neighbourhood. The University of Victoria Campus is shared equally between Saanich and Oak Bay municipalities, and it is in the Henderson neighbourhood that the University lies. The Henderson Recreation Centre, outdoor tennis courts and a par 3 golf course are all in this community. Bordering the Uplands, the prestigious Uplands Golf Course actually falls in the Henderson neighbourhood, too.

The lower part of this neighbourhood  borders on North Oak Bay and Estevan, and has quite an historic past. The original Willows Fairgrounds with a horse racing track and the Patrick Arena, where the Victoria Cougars won the Stanley Cup in 1925 are part of its history.  Although none of these structures still exist today, many of the streets on the Lansdowne Slope reflect the racetrack’s past with the suffix “downe” in their names.
